How to choose an all-in-one video bar for Zoom Rooms

Most conference rooms do not need a rack of equipment. They need the right bar for the room, installed well.

Quick answer

Choose the bar by room size and shape first, then compare camera, microphone reach, controller and management. Huddle rooms suit compact bars or an all-in-one board, small to medium rooms suit a mid-size bar, and large rooms usually need a distributed design with a DSP. Logitech and Neat both make excellent options at every size.

What an all-in-one video bar is

An all-in-one video bar puts the camera, microphones and speakers in a single unit that sits above or below the room display. It runs the meeting software itself, so there is no separate room computer to update or replace. A touch controller on the table starts the meeting. For most small and medium rooms this is the simplest and most dependable way to build a Zoom Room.

Match the bar to the room

Room classRoughly how many seatsTypical approach
HuddleUp to about 4Compact bar, or an all-in-one touchscreen board
SmallAbout 4 to 6Compact or mid-size bar
MediumAbout 6 to 10Mid-size or full-size bar, with an expansion microphone for a long table
Large or boardroom10 or moreDistributed design: ceiling or table microphones, DSP, possibly more than one camera

These are planning guides, not rules. Table shape, room width and noise matter as much as seat count, and both Logitech and Neat publish room-size guidance for each model that we check against your actual room.

What to compare

Camera

Field of view decides whether the camera can see everyone in a wide room. Automatic framing and zoom decide whether remote participants see faces or a distant crowd. Ask for a demonstration in a room like yours.

Microphones and speakers

Look at pickup range, and whether expansion microphones are available for longer tables. Speaker volume matters in rooms with background noise. Audio quality is the thing remote participants notice first.

Controller and user experience

A touch controller at the table is the right default. A scheduling panel outside the door helps people find and book rooms. Consider who will use the room and how often.

Management

Logitech offers Logitech Sync and Neat offers its own cloud management. Either lets IT monitor rooms, push firmware updates and change settings without visiting each room, which matters once you have more than a handful of rooms.

Displays and cabling

Confirm how many displays the bar supports, where the bar will mount relative to the display, and where power and network will come from. Power over Ethernet simplifies a lot of installations.

Both families are strong. We install both, and the right choice usually comes down to room layout, the controller you prefer and what your IT team already manages. See our pages on Logitech and Neat.

When a bar is not enough

Move to a distributed design when the room is large, divisible or has an unusual shape; when you want ceiling microphones; or when conferencing shares audio with other sources. That means a Biamp DSP, separate microphones and speakers, and often Crestron control. We handle both kinds of project and will say plainly which one your room needs.

Before you buy: a short checklist

  • Measure the room and note the table shape and seating.
  • Decide on your meeting platform and calendar system.
  • Confirm network drops and PoE at the display location and the table.
  • Choose where the display and bar will mount.
  • Ask how the devices will be managed and updated.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate computer for Zoom Rooms?

Not with an all-in-one bar that runs Zoom Rooms itself. That is the main reason we favor them: there is no room computer to patch, replace or rebuild.

Can I use a webcam and a speakerphone instead?

You can, but separate parts mean more cables, more things to update and more places for a problem to hide. An all-in-one bar is usually more reliable and easier to support.

How many displays can a video bar drive?

It varies by model. Many support two displays, but confirm this for the specific model and platform you are considering.

Should every room in my office use the same brand?

Consistency makes support easier, so we generally recommend choosing one brand per room size. Mixing Logitech and Neat works fine when it fits the rooms.
